Position Summary
We are in search of a skilled Manufacturing Solutions Engineer to join our dynamic team. This role is pivotal in enhancing a critical air defense initiative by conducting thorough capacity assessments, designing production facility layouts, analyzing material flows, and planning equipment acquisitions.

Key Responsibilities
The Manufacturing Solutions Engineer will collaborate closely with the Manufacturing Program Manager and various teams across multiple production sites to:

  • Document existing program planning scenarios.
  • Coordinate operational assumptions and maintain make/buy baselines.
  • Develop and uphold capacity analyses.
  • Outline multi-year facility plans for the program.
  • Identify and recommend improvements based on current program execution.

Additionally, the role involves:

  • Analyzing current systems and processes to distinguish between value-added and non-value-added activities, addressing manufacturing challenges while consolidating core competencies.
  • Supporting the development and management of technical capabilities, process roadmaps, and manufacturing strategies to fulfill key customer requirements.
  • Assisting site manufacturing teams in crafting, justifying, and executing long-term plans to achieve program objectives, including production launches and engineering change control activities.
  • Evaluating capacity planning for various manufacturing processes to ensure compliance with takt time and customer demands.
  • Identifying, prioritizing, and implementing process improvement solutions utilizing lean manufacturing principles, process mapping, root cause analysis, and problem-solving techniques.

Qualifications
To be considered for this role, candidates should possess:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering or a related technical field, coupled with a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience in industrial/manufacturing engineering support for Defense, Aerospace, Space, or Commercial projects, with a solid understanding of the associated quality requirements.
  • Technical expertise in formulating manufacturing strategies, including make/buy decisions, equipment needs, process definitions, and capacity planning.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and AutoCAD.
  • The ability to collaborate effectively across multiple teams to drive manufacturing excellence.

Additional Requirements
Candidates must be U.S. citizens and possess (or be eligible to obtain) a Final Secret Clearance.

Preferred Qualifications
Ideal candidates will have:

  • Prior experience in facility planning.
  • Expertise in Lean principles and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Familiarity with Deltek Costpoint, Solumina MES, Agile, or Windchill PLM software.
  • Strong project management and personnel planning skills.
  • Lean Six Sigma certification.
