Job Summary

Mass General Brigham is seeking a highly skilled Clinical Trials Pharmacist to join our team in Cambridge, Massachusetts.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate and collaborate with the Clinical Trial Pharmacy (CTP) Manager, Pharmacist, and Technicians to ensure the smooth execution of clinical trials.
  • Review new protocols and amendments for drug safety and feasibility, and draft dispense instructions as needed.
  • Act as a liaison between principal investigators, the research office, sponsors, pharmacy, and the Institutional Review Board (IRB).
  • Ensure medication orders comply with approved protocols and dispense research medication to subjects enrolled in clinical trials.
  • Review patient medications for appropriateness and address issues with the study team.
  • Triage and participate in sponsor monitoring visits and audits, and manage investigational drug inventory for studies.
  • Oversee the safe handling and preparation of investigational medications, and provide drug information to other healthcare professionals.
  • Review new drug protocols as IRB ancillary reviewer and promote a culture of safety.
  • Participate in the training and mentorship of new employees, students, and residents, and assist with special projects assigned by the manager.
  • Assure adequate communication is maintained between staff for continuity of service, and participate in quality improvement projects.
  • Oversee technician activities and perform quality control checks, and attend and participate in Institutional Review Board (IRB) meetings.
  • Complete reports, including Safety Reports and Notes to File, and comply with state and federal laws pertinent to pharmacy and investigational drug use.
Requirements
  • Massachusetts Pharmacist License in good standing.
  • Hospital Pharmacy Experience.
  • Research pharmacy experience is preferred.
  • Non-sterile and Sterile compounding experience is preferred.
  • Human Subject Research Protection (HSRP) certification is preferred.
  • Good Clinical Practice (GCP) certification is preferred.
Skills and Abilities
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient computer-related skills, including Outlook, Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access.
  • Fluency in English.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to recognize emergency situations and respond appropriately.
  • Excellent comprehension of written policies and procedures.
  • Ability to make appropriate decisions, develop, and complete follow-up actions.
  • Attention to detail and organizational ability.
  • Ability to work well on a team as well as independently.
  • Ability to plan, organize, and prioritize.
  • Ability to motivate and develop others.
  • General understanding of compounding testing requirements.
  • Ability to meet deadlines.
  • Competent in math skills, including proportions, ratios, and conversions.
  • Excellent telephone skills.
  • Monitors and assures security of narcotics and controlled substances in accordance with hospital policy, as well as Federal and State Law.
