Key Responsibilities
* Prepare patients for examinations and diagnostic procedures, ensuring accurate and timely completion of tasks.
* Report all observed patient concerns and changes in condition to licensed staff members, ensuring prompt and effective care.
* Perform Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA) waived lab tests as identified by department and report results to the appropriate personnel, maintaining accurate records and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
* Assist with procedures, including acting as a chaperone for healthcare providers during patient examinations and assisting with patient transport as needed.
* Maintain a clean and organized patient examination room, unit area, and equipment, reporting outdated supplies, stock levels, and necessary equipment repairs to ensure a safe and efficient work environment.
* Provide exceptional customer service, responding to patient and family inquiries, and resolving issues in a timely and professional manner.
Requirements
* Current RQI Healthcare Provider eCredential through the University of Utah Health RQI system, obtained within 30 days of hire.
* One of the following certifications: Advanced EMT, Paramedic, Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), ABR-OE, Registered Medical Assistant (RMA), National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA), or Clinical Medical Assistant Certification through NHA.
* Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, prioritizing tasks and managing multiple responsibilities with minimal supervision.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with patients, families, and healthcare teams.
* Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
Working Conditions and Physical Demands
This position involves intermediate working conditions in a healthcare setting, requiring the ability to lift, carry, push, pull, or move patients or objects, such as medical equipment, while providing patient care. Workers in this position may be exposed to infectious diseases and may be required to function around prisoners or behavioral health patients. Incumbents face exposure to potentially dangerous contaminated bodily fluids, blood, used needles, and other contaminants as part of the daily hazards of the job.
