Job Summary

St. Elizabeth Healthcare is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Ophthalmic Assistant to join our team. As an Ophthalmic Assistant, you will provide clinical support to our physicians and advanced practice providers, ensuring the highest level of patient care and satisfaction.

Responsibilities
  • Provide medical history and initial exams for patients prior to seeing physicians or advanced practice providers
  • Perform ancillary tests, such as OPD, OCT, visual fields, immersion a-scan, Lenstar, pachymetry, retinoscopy refractions, glare testing, color testing, tonometry, and manual keratometry
  • Assist with minor in-office surgical procedures under the direction of providers
  • Ensure complete and accurate information in patient charts
  • Maintain adequate levels of supplies in exam rooms and workstations
  • Clean and disinfect exam rooms between patients and at the end of the day
  • Perform cleaning, maintenance, and/or sterilization of equipment and instruments
  • Assist with completion of patient requests and messages via Epic IN basket
  • Ensure completion of all forms vital to the revenue cycle
  • Timely and accurate filing/distribution of all patient information
  • Perform appropriate testing based on orders from providers
  • Maintain current and accurate medication logs
Requirements
  • High School Diploma/G.E.D.
  • One year experience in Ophthalmology or two years of experience in a medical facility/practice
  • Ophthalmology Assistant experience preferred, but willing to train the right candidate
  • Associate will obtain Ophthalmic Scribe Certification (OSC) within 90 days of employment and COA (Certified Ophthalmic Assistant) no later than 18 months of employment
