Description

Under general supervision, this role involves a variety of responsibilities related to the daily operations and upkeep of county parks, ensuring a safe and enjoyable environment for all visitors.

Employees are expected to demonstrate independent judgment, discretion, and initiative in all tasks. Establishing and maintaining friendly and effective communication with colleagues and the public is essential.

Reports to the Park Superintendent or designated personnel.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist visitors with inquiries regarding park usage.
  • Prepare facilities for events and ensure they are secured afterward.
  • Manage the opening and closing of parks across the county.
  • Conduct general maintenance and inspections of park grounds, trails, equipment, and facilities.
  • Keep records of park activities and attendance.
  • Participate in fee collection for equipment and facility rentals.
  • Weigh and identify fish caught by park visitors.
  • Patrol park areas on foot, all-terrain vehicles, bicycles, boats, or vehicles as necessary to ensure visitor safety.
Qualifications

High school diploma or GED is required.

Preferred: One year of experience in park operations or maintenance, along with customer service and cash handling experience.

Special Requirements
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and maintain a driving record that meets established standards.
  • Successful completion of a post-offer, pre-employment physical examination; subsequent examinations may be required to ensure compliance with job-related physical standards.
  • Certification in First Aid, AED, and CPR must be obtained within 60 days of employment and maintained throughout employment.
  • Completion of approved child protection training within one month of employment is required.
  • Preferred: Completion of a boat-handling course approved by the National Association of State Boating Law Administrators.
  • Possession of a freshwater fishing license is preferred.
