Job Summary:
The New York State Civil Service is seeking a highly skilled Nurse Practitioner Psychiatric to join our team. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care and services in a psychiatric setting.
Key Responsibilities:- Examine patients to determine the nature of the psychiatric complaint and the treatment to be prescribed.
- Author medication orders and clarify orders when required with nursing.
- Review preadmission psychiatric information to determine psychiatric appropriateness prior to admission.
- Establish the admitting diagnoses and final diagnoses upon discharge.
- Conduct psychiatric examinations, assessments, and consultations.
- Respond to psychiatric emergencies.
- Assess and treat patients with co-occurring disorders.
- Function as a member of the treatment team.
- Provide educational lectures/groups to patients and/or staff.
- Certification and current registration as a Nurse Practitioner in Psychiatry by the New York State Education Department.
- Eligibility and maintenance of eligibility for full and unconditional participation in the Medicaid and Medicare programs.
