Job Title: RF Imaging Algorithms Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled RF Imaging Algorithms Specialist to join our team at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory. As a key member of our Computational Electromagnetics Group, you will be responsible for developing and implementing algorithms to process signals obtained from a high-speed microwave imaging system.

This project has the potential to revolutionize various fields, including high-speed instrumentation, shockwaves, detonation fronts, explosives safety, and medical imaging. You will collaborate closely with a team of engineers and technicians to design and field prototype hardware, leveraging the leading-edge computing facilities at LLNL and one-of-a-kind experimental facilities.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Implementing image reconstruction algorithms for microwave imaging of shockwaves, detonation fronts, and flaws embedded in materials.
  • Participating in collaborative brainstorming with the team to develop innovative solutions.
  • Conducting literature reviews and writing processing code to evaluate candidate electromagnetic reconstruction algorithms.
  • Evaluating the interaction between image reconstruction algorithms and design changes to evolving prototype hardware.
  • Collaborating with experimentalists to specify measurements for system evaluation.
  • Publishing results in technical reports and peer-reviewed journals.

Requirements:

  • PhD in computer science, electrical engineering, physics, or a closely related field.
  • Knowledge of and experience with Python, MATLAB, C++, or similar programming languages.
  • Experience translating and implementing physics concepts in software.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively in a multi-disciplinary team environment.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
