Key ResponsibilitiesAs a Testing Personnel, the MLS TS is authorized to perform both waived and non-waived tests under the supervision of the Clinical Manager and Laboratory Director. Responsibilities include:
- Oversight of Testing Operations: Manage daily activities related to point of care testing across various healthcare settings, ensuring compliance with quality assurance protocols and performance standards.
- Standardization of Procedures: Develop and revise policies and procedures to align with current practices, ensuring timely reviews and approvals.
- Training and Competency Assessment: Collaborate with nursing and educational staff to provide comprehensive training and ongoing education for testing personnel.
- Proficiency Testing Management: Oversee proficiency testing programs, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and maintaining accurate documentation.
- Instrument Evaluation: Validate and troubleshoot new instruments and methods, ensuring proper functionality and compliance with established standards.
- Quality Control Monitoring: Review quality control records, implement corrective actions as necessary, and maintain knowledge of manufacturers' recommendations.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure that all testing locations meet the standards set by accrediting agencies.
- Professional Development: Engage in continuous professional growth through seminars and workshops to stay updated on industry trends.
To be considered for this role, candidates must possess:
- A Bachelor of Science Degree in Medical Laboratory Science or a related field.
- ASCP certification.
- A minimum of five years of clinical laboratory experience.
