Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and mentor junior engineers in performing hydrologic and hydraulic design calculations for stormwater management systems and bridge hydraulic and floodplain studies.
  • Conduct hydraulic modeling using various industry-standard software and prepare technical sketches, reports, and related documentation.
  • Collaborate with the design team to ensure environmental compliance and assist in the preparation of permit applications.
  • Assist in the planning, scheduling, and coordination of design work across various disciplines.
  • Review plans and details, and prepare or evaluate technical specifications, contract documents, and cost estimates.
  • Support and coordinate with Highway, Structural, and Geotechnical Engineering teams, and perform additional duties as required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.
  • Detail-oriented self-starter with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong mathematical skills and proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Experience with software such as HEC-RAS, HY-8, SRH-2D, HydroCAD, Storm and Sanitary Analysis, MicroStation (including InRoads), and AutoCAD Civil 3D is preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of GIS software is advantageous.
  • Project experience in hydrologic and hydraulic analysis, floodplain studies, channel stability, hydraulic modeling, bridge scour, and environmental permitting.
  • Familiarity with FHWA, USACE, and AASHTO design guidelines, as well as New Jersey Administrative Code (NJAC 7:8, 7:7, and 7:13) is preferred.
  • Licensure as a NJPE is preferred, with other jurisdictions also acceptable.
