Overview

The Heart Hospital Baylor Plano is part of the Baylor Scott and White system, which is the largest not-for-profit health care system in the State of Texas and one of the largest in the United States. Our system includes 47 hospitals, over 6,600 physicians, 43,000 employees, and a state-certified health maintenance organization healthcare plan.

The Heart Hospital Baylor Plano is the largest cardiovascular center in the state and one of the top 5 in the country by cardiac surgery volume. We have a robust cardiovascular and cardiothoracic surgery fellowship program with heart failure, structural, interventional, and EP sub-fellowships.

We are nationally ranked as a specialized cardiac hospital, high performing in 5 aspects of cardiac surgery and cardiovascular care, including heart failure care. Our left ventricular assist device program is one of the busiest in the country, and we have a three-star ranking in multiple cardiac surgical procedures.

Job Description

This position involves teaching general cardiology fellows as well as the heart failure fellow. You will see patients at our heart failure and subspecialty clinics, and participate in an inpatient consulting service, including shock management and cardiac critical care.

There is ample opportunity for research on both local and national levels. This role requires evaluation, assessment, and pre and post-surgical management of LVAD patients. You will lead the shock team with management of temporary mechanical support devices, including ECMO, IABP, Protek, and Impella.

Our heart failure team works closely with an affiliated transplant center for consideration and evaluation of potential transplant candidates. The heart failure service also collaborates with our busy structural heart disease program.

Plano is a northern suburb of Dallas, Texas, with a population of over 280,000. It is an ethnically diverse and growing community, offering a favorable cost of living and superior schools within Plano and surrounding areas.

There are several local green spaces and lakes, and it is a 20-minute commute to downtown Dallas, providing access to a wide range of dining and shopping experiences. Collin County, where Plano is located, is one of the fastest-growing counties in the country, with over a million residents and consistently ranked as one of the best places to live in the United States.

We estimate the salary for this position to be around $400,000 - $600,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications. This figure takes into account the average salary for similar positions in the region, as well as the cost of living in Plano, Texas.
