Job Title: Neonatal Nurse Practitioner

Job Summary:

A Neonatal Nurse Practitioner at Mercy Health is an advanced practice registered nurse with at least 2 years of experience as a bedside registered nurse in a level III NICU, who is prepared to practice across the continuum, providing primary, acute, chronic, and critical care to neonates, infants, and toddlers through age 2.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform physical examinations and provide follow-up care to patients.
  • Order, interpret, and evaluate diagnostic tests to identify and assess patient's clinical problems and health care needs.
  • Record physical findings, formulate plan and prognosis, based on patient's condition.
  • Collaborate with Physician and other health professionals to prepare comprehensive patient care plan.
  • Prescribe or recommend drugs or other forms of treatment such as physical therapy, inhalation therapy, or related therapeutic procedures.
  • Have a high level of decision-making skills and autonomy.
  • Refer patients to Physician for consultation or to specialized health resources for treatment.

Requirements:

  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
  • Meets the requirements determined by the State of Wisconsin or Illinois to perform duties defined as those of a Nurse Practitioner.
  • Holds valid APNP license in state of practice.
  • Hold valid state RN license in state of practice.
  • Has DEA authorization as needed.
  • Approved CPR or BLS certification required within 90 days.

Certifications:

  • ACLS, PALS, PEARS, NRP
