We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Research Professional II to join our team at the University of Georgia. As a key member of our research group, you will be responsible for conducting experimental research in plant pathology, molecular biology, bioinformatics, and metabolomics.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct experimental research in plant pathology, molecular biology, bioinformatics, and metabolomics.
- Assist the PI with planning and management of program research.
- Extract and analyze fungal or plant DNA, analyze plant secondary metabolites, and maintain the fungal collection of the lab.
- Coordinate use of laboratory equipment and resources utilized by graduate students, research faculty, and professional staff.
- Ensure all instrumentations/equipment is functioning properly and arrange equipment replacement, service, and/or repair when needed.
- Maintain laboratory notebooks and databases.
- Advance knowledge of either molecular biology (including DNA isolation, PCR, DNA sequencing, and basic bioinformatics) or analytical chemistry (including gas and/or liquid chromatography) techniques.
- Familiarity with sterile media preparation and fungal isolation.
- Familiarity with data collection, maintenance of laboratory notebooks, and computer databases using software such as Excel.
- Administrative or supervisory experience.
The normal working conditions of an office environment.
