Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Radiology Technologist to join our team at Advocate Health. As a key member of our diagnostic imaging team, you will be responsible for performing a variety of radiologic procedures, including general diagnostic, fluoroscopy, and other specialized exams.

Key Responsibilities
  • Imaging Procedures: Proficiently perform basic to advanced radiologic procedures, including general diagnostic, fluoroscopy, pain clinic, GI lab, urology, and c-arm procedures.
  • Patient Communication: Communicate with patients to explain procedures, obtain clinical history, confirm acknowledgment of patients' understanding, and address any questions or concerns.
  • Image Quality: Position patients and select exposure factors for various radiologic examinations, provide patient with radiation protection and safety in accordance with prescribed methods, and identify patient and label images pertaining to the patient.
  • Exam Accuracy: Compare requisitions to physician's orders to ensure exam accuracy, process images ensuring quality of radiographs, and call back patients as necessary.
  • Collaboration: Assist, communicate, and consult with Radiologists, work independently outside the department with providers, and serve as a technical resource, role model, and/or preceptor for students and staff.
  • Record Keeping: Prepare and maintain records in accordance with various regulatory agencies, enter patient and study information into the radiology information system, and document billing codes of procedures performed to ensure accurate patient charges.
Requirements
  • Licensure and Certification: Radiographer license issued by the state in which the team member practices, Registered Technologist (RT) registration issued by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT), and Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) needs to be obtained within 6 months.
  • Education: Advanced training beyond High School that includes the completion of an accredited or approved program in Radiologic Technology.
  • Experience: Requires 1 year of experience in a Radiologic Technologist role.
  • Knowledge and Skills: Proficient in radiology positioning and techniques, aseptic techniques, and C-arm; advanced knowledge of radiation safety and radiology equipment; knowledge of specialty physician protocols and ability to work effectively with diverse providers; advanced knowledge of anatomy; excellent communication, interpersonal, and patient service skills; ability to work independently; and intermediate computer skills.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
  • Physical Demands: Ability to sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, twist, and reach above shoulders frequently throughout the workday; must be able to stand/walk for majority of the day; must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. from floor to waist, lift up to 20 lbs. over the head, and carry up to 40 lbs. a reasonable distance.
  • Work Environment: May be exposed to mechanical, electrical, chemical, and radiation hazards as well as blood and body fluids; therefore, personal protective equipment must be worn as necessary.
