Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Research Associate / Associate Scientist to join our launch team. As a key member of our research team, you will be responsible for deploying molecular biology techniques, culturing and optimizing mammalian cells, and developing novel protocols and standard operating procedures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Molecular Biology Techniques: Deploy next-generation sequencing (NGS), gene editing techniques, and other molecular biology approaches to advance our research goals.
  • Cell Culture and Optimization: Culture and optimize mammalian cells and primary immune cells to support our research objectives.
  • Assay Development and Validation: Optimize biological and biochemical assays to screen and validate novel targets.
  • Flow Cytometry and FACS: Perform flow cytometry and fluorescence-activated cell sorting (FACS) of primary human cells.
  • Protocol Development and SOPs: Develop novel protocols and standard operating procedures (SOPs) for the company.
  • Team Collaboration: Collaborate closely with a team of scientists and research associates to achieve tight timelines and create a comprehensive map of genomic sites impacting immune cells.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience: BS plus 2-7 years of experience or MS plus 0-5 years of experience (some early-stage startup experience preferred).
  • Cell Culture and Molecular Biology Experience: Strong experience with mammalian cell culture, primary immune cell culture experience preferred.
  • Lentiviral Manufacturing and Transduction Experience: Experience with lentiviral manufacturing and transduction.
  • Flow Cytometry and FACS Experience: Experience with flow cytometry and/or FACS.
  • Molecular Biology Approaches: Hands-on experience with molecular biology approaches like PCR, DNA isolation, and molecular cloning; gene editing technology is a plus.
  • Organizational and Communication Skills: Excellent organizational and interpersonal communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Adaptability and Learning Ability: Willingness and ability to learn new methods and skills for changing research priorities.
  • Record-Keeping and Time Management: Ability to keep detailed and organized records of experimental protocols and results, and prioritize tasks, coordinate work tasks with others, and meet multiple deadlines.
  • Team Player: Ability to work independently and as a member of a research team, and self-starter with an interest in building a team from the ground up at a brand new start-up.
