Job Summary

The Assistant Chief Financial Officer (ACFO) plays a critical role in supporting the facility Chief Financial Officer (CFO) in safeguarding hospital assets and ensuring the financial statements, including the books and records, are prepared and maintained in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee the operations of the Accounting/Finance Department, including financial statement preparation, maintenance, and accuracy of the general ledger, internal audit, and SOX control.
  • Implement and adhere to regulatory, GAAP, and other changes that affect the accounting cycle, providing timely and effective service to both internal and external customers.
  • Ensure compliance with company financial and accounting policies and procedures, as well as the effectiveness of internal controls in both design and operation, including routine monitoring of controls.
  • Ensure timely completion of the monthly close deadlines, maintain account reconciliation and supporting documentation for all activities, perform account analysis, prepare various packages as requested (e.g., cost report, tax, etc.), and assist with various projects as requested.
  • Assist with the identification and independent assessment of financial risk, establishment, and monitoring of mitigation plans, and with the communication of financial risk and opportunity to the regional CFO and hospital CEO.
  • Assist with the monitoring of the financial performance and the maintenance of reasonable and appropriate financial plans and forecasts.

Requirements
  • Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, with a CPA designation or an advanced degree being a plus.
  • At least 5 years of progressive financial healthcare or equivalent experience in the areas of general accounting, financial systems, financial statement preparation, review, and analysis, multi-discipline management experience, ethics, and excellent communication skills.
