Job Responsibilities

The Benefits Specialist will be responsible for administering all aspects of our company's Health and Welfare and Time Off programs. This includes supporting the benefits team, with a deep understanding of group health plans and benefits administration, and ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations.

  • Data Audits and Reconciliations: Perform regular data audits and reconciliations to ensure the accuracy and integrity of all crew data
  • Billing Payments: Process billing payments for all carriers to ensure timely payment
  • Crewmember Support: Respond to crewmember escalations and resolve any issues in Workday or with providers
  • Process Improvement: Identify trends and recommend opportunities for process improvement and enhancements
  • Open Enrollment Administration: Support open enrollment administration, testing, communication, and reporting as needed
  • Leave of Absence Administration: Handle the leave of absence administration process from the crewmember initial notice of the need for leave to the return to work
  • Leave Law Compliance: Advise managers and crewmembers on the interaction of leave laws with paid time off, workers compensation, and short-term and long-term disability benefits
Qualifications and Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree preferred
  • 3-5 years of multi-state benefits and leave experience preferred
  • Proven experience in benefits and leave administration
  • Proficiency in HRIS systems and leave management software, preferably Workday
  • Thorough understanding of employee benefits and legal protections afforded by ERISA, COBRA, PPACA and other applicable laws
  • Extensive knowledge of the leave requirements and other legal protections afforded by the FMLA, ADA, and other applicable laws
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex policies and procedures to crewmembers at all levels with a customer service oriented approach
