Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Sonographer Cardiac II to join our team at Advocate Aurora Health. As a key member of our cardiovascular diagnostics team, you will be responsible for performing complex cardiac ultrasound procedures, assisting physicians in the Catheterization and Electrophysiology Labs, and providing exceptional patient care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform cardiac ultrasound procedures, including M-mode, 2-D, Doppler, and Color Flow Doppler, to obtain accurate and high-quality results.
  • Assist physicians in the Catheterization and Electrophysiology Labs by performing echocardiograph studies to aid in complex procedures.
  • Identify and define cardiac abnormalities, extending the scope of the examination as needed.
  • Prepare patients for procedures, obtain clinical history, and adapt imaging techniques to obtain comprehensive and diagnostic echocardiograms.
  • Communicate clinical findings to the appropriate staff and record statistics.
  • Perform daily maintenance of the Echocardiography Lab and its equipment, reporting malfunctions as necessary.
Requirements
  • Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS-AE) registration with Adult Echo issued by the ARDMS, or Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) registration issued by the Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI).
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA).
  • Advanced training beyond High School in Sonography.
Working Conditions

This role requires the ability to sit 50% and stand and walk 20% of the workday. You will be required to lift up to 50 lbs. from floor to waist, lift up to 20 lbs. over the head, and carry up to 40 lbs. a reasonable distance. You will also be required to push/pull with 30 lbs. of force, perform a sliding transfer of 150 lbs. with a second person present, and frequently push or pull over 100 lbs.

You will be required to wear protective clothing, such as lead aprons, isolation gowns, and protective eyewear, as needed. You may be exposed to mechanical, electrical, and chemical hazards.
