  • Audiology at the University of Miami is currently seeking a full-time Hearing Care Support Specialist to work in Coral Gables, FL.
The Hearing Care Support Specialist enhances patient access to care by expanding the availability of audiology services, boosting productivity by minimizing wait times, improving patient satisfaction, and reducing costs by executing tasks that do not necessitate the professional expertise of a certified and/or licensed audiologist.
CORE JOB FUNCTIONS
Assists Audiologist in conducting audiological assessments and evaluations, ensuring proper fitting of hearing devices and technology. Supports the delivery of services, where appropriate.
Prepares examination rooms for patient assessments.
Assists with evaluations by preparing materials and handing instruments to the audiologist as directed. Cleans and sterilizes instruments while adhering to sterile technique principles.
Maintains accurate and comprehensive patient records and documentation.
Provides patients with fundamental instructions and information regarding examination procedures.
Organizes and replenishes audiology rooms with necessary supplies daily. Disposes of expired materials.

Evaluates audiology clinic organization and cleanliness weekly, checks hand sanitizer dispensers, and reports the need for refills and/or requests for deep cleaning.

Assists in performing clerical tasks such as answering phone calls and maintaining administrative records.

Utilizes IDX RIS/PACS to monitor patient arrival times and informs front desk personnel of patient delays to uphold the daily schedule.

Welcomes patients upon arrival and verifies patient information. Directs patients to the clinic or audiology room and ensures they are prepared for the provider.
Documents all equipment issues and reports them to the appropriate managing staff.

Assists in copying completed patient paperwork, delivering originals to the front desk for scanning, and distributing copies to relevant reading rooms.

Assists in the distribution of patient label stickers in Audiology.

Conducts daily biological checks of audiological equipment and reports any issues with equipment to the equipment manufacturer and Practice Manager.

Reports unusual incidents promptly to the appropriate supervisory personnel.
Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.

CORE QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent
Certification and Licensing:Audiology Assistant Certification completion within the first three months of employment

Experience:

Skill in completing assignments accurately and with attention to detail.
Ability to analyze, organize and prioritize work under pressure while meeting deadlines.
