Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Controls Technician to join our team at Trane Technologies. As a key member of our field service team, you will be responsible for installing, commissioning, and servicing our direct digital control systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Commission and program DDC controls systems, ensuring seamless integration with existing infrastructure.
  • Conduct thorough testing and troubleshooting to identify and resolve issues efficiently.
  • Document point-to-point verification, sequence of operations validation, and job close-out requirements to ensure compliance and quality.
  • Represent Trane Technologies as the primary customer contact, providing exceptional service and ensuring customer satisfaction.
  • Collaborate with team leaders and customers to understand project requirements, forecast issues, and synchronize on-site work.
  • Stay up-to-date on Trane products, including installation, operation, maintenance, service, and repair of DDC systems.
  • Ensure a safe working environment by enforcing safety standards and maintaining security and accountability of company assets.
  • Display a team-oriented mindset, demonstrating flexibility to work overtime and weeks as needed, including occasional overnight stays.
Requirements
  • A High School Diploma or equivalent, with 3-5 years of experience in HVAC/Controls, and technical school or formal training preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office software and working knowledge of handheld computers (e.g., smartphones, iPads).
  • A valid driver's license with no major or frequent traffic violations, including DUI, hit-and-run, license suspension, reckless/careless driving, or multiple smaller infractions within the past 3 years.
  • Previous experience with DDC controls systems is a plus.
Additional Requirements and Environmental Exposure
  • Must be able to safely operate a vehicle using a seatbelt.
  • Must be able to wear helmets, safety goggles, fall protection harnesses, and safety boots to perform job duties.
  • Must be able to twist the trunk of the body 90 degrees in each direction.
  • Must be able to squat and touch the floor with both hands.
  • Must be able to reach above the head.
  • Must be able to stand on concrete surfaces for extended periods, up to 4 hours.
  • This position is physically demanding, requiring regular use of hands, fingers, walking, stooping, kneeling, and climbing ladders, with occasional lifting of up to 40 pounds.
  • Must be able to safely use a ladder with a 375-pound total weight limit, while wearing equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to maneuver access areas, as small as 30 inches vertical x 45 inches horizontal.
  • Must be able to comfortably access rooftops with extension and/or fixed ladders at heights of 15-20 feet, and occasionally up to 50 feet.
  • This role may be exposed to variable weather conditions, moving mechanical parts, heights, risk of electrical shock, noisy operating equipment, and other environmental conditions based on location.
  • Hourly compensation: $35-$45/hour, depending on skills and experience.
