Job Summary

The Clinical Laboratory Department at Mercy Health is seeking a skilled Phlebotomy Specialist to join our team. As a Phlebotomy Specialist, you will be responsible for collecting high-quality blood samples from patients, processing specimens, and performing clerical duties to maintain the department's efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide exceptional customer service skills by greeting patients and the community in a respectful manner.
  • Collect all specimens according to established procedures from patients and ensure they are properly processed.
  • Identify patients accurately and match the patient's identity with the correct service to ensure patient safety.
  • Responsible for data entry and processing of specimens by labeling, centrifuging, splitting, and freezing specimens as requested by test orders.
  • Perform departmental-related clerical duties such as checking inventory, stocking supplies, and answering phones as needed.
  • Must possess the ability to troubleshoot and resolve problems promptly.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • High School Degree or GED.
  • Phlebotomist Certification preferred but not required.
  • One-year phlebotomy experience preferred but not required.
  • Customer service experience in a retail or service environment preferred.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to provide quality, error-free work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Engage with staff and patients in a professional manner.
  • Position requires travel to off-site locations.
