Job Summary

As a Medical Laboratory Technician Float, you will play a vital role in ensuring the accuracy and reliability of laboratory testing. Your expertise will aid physicians in diagnosing and monitoring patients, while collaborating with the Medical Technologist to implement new procedures and improve systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Organize and perform laboratory testing in assigned areas, utilizing your knowledge and skills to ensure quality results.
  • Determine the reliability of analytical data, recognizing abnormal results and taking appropriate action.
  • Assure quality results through the use of control materials, proper instrument maintenance, and daily documentation.
  • Utilize available resources to maintain and fix instrumentation, or problem-solve issues in collaboration with the Medical Technologist.
  • Complete a minimum of five continuing education contact hours per year or ten contact hours per two years.
  • Utilize the Laboratory Information System (LIS) and network efficiently.

Requirements:

  • Associate's Degree in Medical Technology or related experience/education requirements determined by the ASCP or AMT.
  • ASCP, or AMT certification within 12 months of hire.
