Advanced Practice Provider, NP or PA, Transplantation Surgery Specialist

The University of Cincinnati College of Medicine is seeking a highly skilled Advanced Practice Provider, NP or PA, to join our team in the Department of Surgery, Division of Transplantation Surgery. As a key member of our team, you will provide direct patient care for liver, kidney, and pancreas transplant patients, as well as hepatobiliary surgical patients and vascular access patients, in the surgical intensive care unit, med/surg floor, and outpatient clinic under the direction of transplant surgeons and physicians.
Responsibilities- Take patient histories, conduct physical examinations, and record the data in the patient's record; write progress notes and narrative discharge summaries; prepare patient workups and summaries noting pertinent positive and negative findings.
- Order and schedule laboratory studies and diagnostic procedures; explain the necessity, preparation, nature, and anticipated effects of scheduled diagnostic and therapeutic procedures to the patient.
- Carry out therapeutic wound suturing and dressing changes; monitor progress of patients, report progress to supervising physician, and maintain record of each patient's progress.
- Participate in basic science and clinical research projects conducted by supervising physician; prepare statistical reports and analyses setting forth progress, adverse trends, and appropriate recommendations or conclusions.
- Train new personnel.
- Participate in teaching medical students, residents, fellows, physician assistant students, nurse practitioner students, and pharmacy students in techniques and procedures which are unique to specific clinical setting.
- Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.
Nurse Practitioner (NP):
Required Education
- Master's degree in nursing from an accredited nursing program.
Required Trainings/Certifications
- Active Ohio APRN license with prescriptive authority.
- Active Board Certification.
Required experience
- Three (3) years nursing experience.
OR
Physician Assistant (PA):
Required Education
- Master's degree from an accredited Physician Assistant program.
Required Trainings/Certifications
- Active Ohio Physician Assistant license with prescriptive authority.
- Certification as a Physician Assistant by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants.
Required experience
- Two (2) years of clinical experience.
