Surgical Pathology Specialist

Mayo Clinic is seeking a highly skilled Surgical Pathology Technician to join our team in the Pathology Frozen Section Lab. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for handling a high volume of fresh tissue specimens while maintaining sample integrity and patient identification.
Key Responsibilities- Partner with team members to foster an inclusive work environment and respect others with different backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives.
- Perform a variety of technical procedures on patient tissue, including frozen section techniques that result in the creation of microscopic slides reviewed by a pathologist while the patient is under anesthesia in the operating room.
- Manage multiple time-sensitive clinical and research studies at various stages of processing.
- Create touch prep or smear slides and perform staining of prepared fresh cytology specimens.
- Apply medical terminology and surgical pathology knowledge to provide overall operational support necessary to maintain and optimize testing activities.
- High school diploma or GED and 2 years relevant experience or associate degree.
- Associates degree preferred.
- Medical terminology preferred.
- Understanding of anatomy preferred.
