Overview

We are seeking a Senior Track Design Engineer to provide technical support to project design teams, applying engineering fundamentals to ensure efficient and safe rail systems.

Our rail and transit systems connect people and freight across the country, and our engineers bring a deep understanding of the unique nature of railroad projects. We offer a comprehensive range of rail services to Class 1, short line, transit agencies, and Department of Transportation clients, as well as industrial installations.

Responsibilities
  • Perform engineering calculations and create estimates for project alternatives.
  • Research and apply code provisions to design railway infrastructure.
  • Create cost estimates for project alternatives and perform QA/QC by verifying design methodology and calculations.
  • Interpret drawings from multiple disciplines for specific projects and create 3D models.
  • Research design options and document findings for project engineers/ managers.
  • Submit concept designs and work through approval processes, including permits from municipalities.
  • Collaborate with senior engineers to create project designs.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Civil Engineering.
  • 4-8 years of experience in track design and railroad engineering.
  • Proficiency in Microstation and OpenRoads.
  • Ability to develop drawings by modifying or replicating prior projects.
  • Ability to create drawings from sketches and ensure designs are in accordance with company and client production and design standards.
  • A strong work ethic, excellent attention to detail, and eagerness to learn.
  • A team player with the ability to work independently.
  • Ability to read, write, and understand English for purposes of comprehending written job-related communications and verbal instructions and interactions.
