Position Overview
We are currently seeking a Control Systems Engineer to join our Engineering team in the Specialty Catalysts division. This role is essential in ensuring the design, testing, troubleshooting, and implementation of process control systems for both new and existing operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain, troubleshoot, and enhance DCS (Honeywell) and PLC-based control systems to ensure safe operations while optimizing production, quality, and cost-efficiency.
- Manage DCS hardware infrastructure, including backup systems and documentation, such as alarms, interlocks, and P&IDs.
- Support commissioning and startup activities, including DCS validation, PHA, PSSR, MOC, and writing SOP/work instructions.
- Develop and improve CL programming, ladder logic, and DCS schematics for plant processes.
- Establish long-term system migration plans to address obsolescence and ensure alignment with advanced control system requirements.
- Assist with troubleshooting during normal operations, startups, and emergencies, including on-call support as needed.
- Oversee contractors working on DCS systems, ensuring compliance with software and hardware support standards.
- Collaborate with plant operators and shift supervisors to enhance HMI and control functionalities.
Physical Requirements
Candidates must be capable of standing, walking, sitting, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and climbing stairs and ladders over 100 ft. Additionally, wearing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as hard hats, protective eyewear, steel-toed boots, hearing protection, and Level A suits is mandatory.
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or a related technical field.
- 5-15 years of experience in chemical manufacturing or a related process industry.
- Proficiency in process control systems.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to adapt style to meet diverse needs.
- Strong personal motivation and accountability in job performance.
- Ability to work effectively within a team environment with outstanding interpersonal skills.
Preferred:
- Hands-on experience with Honeywell TDC3000 and Experion systems.
- Familiarity with project management processes.
- Six Sigma or Lean experience, with Green/Black Belt certification.
