Job Summary

Utah's Hogle Zoo is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Preventative Maintenance Technician to join our team. As a key member of our maintenance department, you will be responsible for leading a crew of maintenance personnel in performing preventative maintenance tasks and repairs for our facilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead a crew of maintenance personnel in performing preventative maintenance tasks and repairs
  • Assist in the training of subordinates and assign tasks as needed
  • Provide first-level technical support to the team for problems and issues
  • Support Zoo and department goals and objectives
  • Advise maintenance supervisor of employee performance and address load leveling issues
  • Prepare daily, weekly, or monthly reports as required
Requirements
  • Proven successful supervisory experience required
  • Five (5) years of building and preventative maintenance experience in a Zoo or other facilities
  • Thorough knowledge of standards, practices, materials, and methods used in three or more craft trades
  • Experience with HVAC and Plumbing controls and ability to demonstrate skills in controlling and troubleshooting control systems
  • Ability to lead maintenance personnel to provide solutions, meet needed work deadlines, and demonstrate positive attitude, leadership abilities, and skills
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills with ability to communicate effectively with customers and co-workers
  • Ability to work with computer applications including MS Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Proficient in Facilities work order application for assignments, including mobile work order systems
Work Environment

The tasks require a variety of moderately heavy physical activities which generally involve muscular strain. Requires activities related to walking, standing, bending, stooping, sitting, reaching, talking, hearing, and seeing. Common eye, hand, finger dexterity required to perform essential functions. Exposure to cleaning, and sanitation chemicals heat, cold, noise, dust, and fumes. Requires lifting of up to 80 lbs.
