Electromagnetic Compatibility Engineer

Vast is seeking an experienced Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) Engineer to join our team in the development of artificial gravity space stations. As an EMC Engineer, you will play a critical role in ensuring the electromagnetic compatibility of our spacecraft and components, ensuring safe and reliable operation in space.
Responsibilities:- Develop and implement EMC requirements for Vast spacecraft and components
- Derive and distribute EMC and in-space environmental requirements
- Implement tailored industry standards for Vast spacecraft and avionics
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to guide best practices for EMC design and test
- Perform analysis and measurement on avionics sub-circuits, components, and systems to enhance our understanding of EMC performance and risk
- Support EMC qualification testing of Vast spacecraft and components
- Contribute to a culture of extreme ownership by understanding and articulating the relationship between EMC and all subsystems and disciplines in human-rated spacecraft
- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, physics, or related STEM discipline
- 2+ years of experience working in EMI/EMC/Physics-related role
- Master's degree in electrical engineering, physics, or related STEM discipline
- Experience in EMI/EMC, in-space charging for spacecraft, triboelectrification, grounding and bonding
- Prior experience in an electronics or electrical systems design role
- Experience with software development in Matlab, Python, etc.
- Experience with digital communications standards such as Ethernet, RS-422, PCIe, GMII, etc.
- Experience with MIL-STD-461 compliance testing (procedures, facilities, equipment, etc.)
- Experience developing software for electronic test equipment automation
- Background in electromagnetics, ionizing radiation, and plasma effects on spacecraft systems
- Strong sense of accountability and integrity with excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to effectively communicate with cross-disciplinary teams
