Position Overview:
The Tax Compliance Specialist plays a crucial role in the preparation of income tax returns and unclaimed property reports, while also conducting thorough research on federal, state, and local tax regulations. This position requires an individual who thrives in a dynamic environment with stringent deadlines, utilizing strong problem-solving skills, abstract thinking, and meticulous attention to detail.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conducts comprehensive tax accounting tasks, including research, report preparation, and account analysis.
  • Identifies and rectifies discrepancies in tax entries and reports, liaising with government representatives as needed.
  • Prepares and files tax returns on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.
  • Gathers necessary documentation for audits to ensure compliance with all relevant tax legislation.
  • Collaborates with various departments, such as Construction, Accounting, and Supply Chain, to gather essential tax information and implement appropriate tax strategies.
  • Interprets tax laws and evaluates company policies to ensure adherence to tax regulations.
  • Maintains up-to-date knowledge of applicable tax laws and industry practices.
  • Becomes proficient in tax software, including OneSource and RIA Checkpoint.
  • Assesses current processes and recommends enhancements for improved efficiency.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in Income Tax or Unclaimed Property preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
  • Familiarity with OneSource, WorkDay, and BNA Fixed Assets is advantageous.
