Job Title: Senior Mechanical Engineer II

ICON is seeking a highly skilled Senior Mechanical Engineer II to join our Vulcan Team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for the development of our latest print systems.

Responsibilities:
  • Create design solutions with excellent engineering and documentation processes.
  • Design and create prototypes using in-house and external fabrication.
  • Perform engineering calculations to support design work.
  • Own development of systems through to handoff for product commercialization.
  • Drive engineering excellence and the adherence to the scientific method.
  • Compile and analyze operational, test, and research data to establish technical specifications for designing or modifying products, processes, and materials.
  • Must be willing to perform a wide range of tasks on a daily basis.
Requirements:
  • BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering.
  • 12+ years of professional work experience as a Mechanical Engineer.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of component manufacturing processes.
  • Demonstrated experience leading large system development projects.
  • Proficiency using parametric solid modeling and CAD software.
  • SolidWorks and PDM experience required.
  • Familiarity with making drawings and applicable drawing and tolerancing standards.
  • Exceptional technical and problem-solving skills and reasoning ability.
  • Adept at communicating in a collaborative team environment.
  • Knowledge of the AGILE SCRUM methodology of project management.
  • A service-oriented attitude when in a support role.
  • Ability to prioritize and stay cool in a dynamic start-up environment.
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills.
Preferred Skills and Experience:
  • Previous automation industry experience.
  • Previous start-up experience, and/or a resourceful innovative nature with an ability to streamline or develop efficient processes.
  • Professional experience with thermal and mechanical FEA, and topological optimization.
  • Ability to read and understand electrical schematics, and the ability to troubleshoot electrical and mechanical systems.
  • Industrial safety system experience.
  • A hunger for learning and personal growth.
Physical/Environmental Requirements:
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
  • Must be prepared to work, in part, in extreme environments.
  • Must be able to travel 4+ weeks per year internationally.
