Position Overview
The RN Clinical Nurse – Critical Care is an integral part of a collaborative team of licensed and unlicensed caregivers dedicated to delivering personalized, high-quality, and safe patient care. This role operates within a clinical framework led by Nurse Managers and supported by the Wellstar Shared Governance Model. The practice is guided by the Wellstar Professional Practice Model, emphasizing evidence-based practice and research. RN competencies are rooted in these frameworks and aligned with the Wellstar Values.
All RN Clinical Nurses – Critical Care are expected to be licensed, knowledgeable, and adhere to the nursing practices defined by the Georgia Professional Nurse Practice Act, implementing the Scope of Practice and the Code of Ethics as established by the American Nurses Association. As a vital member of the patient services team, individuals are expected to advocate for the patient’s voice while adhering to system policies and procedures, thereby supporting service excellence goals.

- Executes the Nursing Process (assessment, diagnosis, outcome identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation) in clinical care, utilizing evidence-based practices and critical thinking to ensure individualized care; collaborates effectively to optimize patient care outcomes.
- Delivers relationship-centered, patient-focused care that aligns with specific population characteristics (e.g., age, gender, medical conditions) while demonstrating cultural competence.
- Engages with patients and their significant others through appropriate communication methods, ensuring that the patient's goals are central to the care plan.

- Coordinates the safe delivery and documentation of quality patient care, promoting a professional care delivery model through diverse and inclusive communication methods.

- Engages in performance improvement initiatives, including research and stakeholder involvement, to enhance patient care quality and safety.
Professional Development and Initiative
- Completes all required professional competency assessments and ongoing education.
