Position Overview
The Physical Therapist is responsible for developing and executing tailored treatment plans for patients, adhering to the principles and methodologies of physical therapy. This role involves collaboration with a multidisciplinary team to ensure optimal patient outcomes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conducts thorough initial evaluations and ongoing assessments to create individualized physical therapy plans

    - Exhibits comprehensive knowledge of various diagnoses and conditions relevant to physical therapy

    - Selects and administers appropriate PT assessments across neurological, musculoskeletal, cardiovascular, and pulmonary domains

    - Accurately interprets standardized evaluations suited to the patient's needs

    - Identifies potential challenges that may affect the treatment strategy and overall patient care plan

    - Establishes clear treatment objectives based on initial evaluations

    - Crafts intervention plans that consider the patient's age, educational background, and cultural context

    - Develops an integrated approach to treatment that collaborates with other healthcare services

    - Adjusts treatment plans as necessary based on patient progress
  • Implements and oversees comprehensive treatment strategies, contributing to discharge planning

    - Demonstrates expertise in various physical therapy techniques, employing creativity and adaptability in treatment delivery

    - Engages regularly with the healthcare team to ensure a coordinated approach to patient care

    - Maintains awareness of safety protocols for patients and staff

    - Continuously evaluates patient progress and modifies treatment goals as needed

    - Provides essential information regarding discharge and follow-up care, including referrals to community resources
  • Actively engages in the education of patients and their families

    - Offers guidance and training to patients, families, and caregivers about diagnoses, progress, and long-term recovery expectations

    - Communicates educational information effectively to patients and their support systems

    - Supplies educational resources to patients and families as appropriate
  • Adheres to departmental documentation standards

    - Ensures documentation meets compliance requirements and audit standards

    - Records all aspects of assessment, planning, treatment, and discharge in a clear and timely manner

    - Sets measurable short-term and long-term goals within specified timeframes

    - Maintains clarity and precision in treatment notes, reflecting patient progress

    - Utilizes appropriate medical terminology and abbreviations
  • Maintains productivity standards

    - Achieves departmental productivity benchmarks

    - Follows established scheduling protocols to optimize productivity
  • Provides supervision and mentorship

    - Assists in the training and oversight of Physical Therapy Assistants and support staff

    - Delegates tasks judiciously to ensure quality patient care

    - Offers constructive feedback on performance in a professional manner
  • Contributes to departmental responsibilities

    - Completes assigned tasks efficiently and thoroughly

    - Aids in the upkeep of departmental equipment and supplies

    - Submits productivity reports accurately and promptly

    - Demonstrates respect and collaboration with team members

    - Adheres to departmental policies and procedures
  • Sets and achieves annual professional goals

    - Collaborates with management to establish annual objectives

    - Provides documentation of progress toward achieving set goals

    - Seeks guidance or supervision when necessary
Supervisory Responsibilities
This position does not include management responsibilities and reports to a designated supervisor or manager.

Qualifications

Requires a Bachelor's or advanced degree in Physical Therapy

Licensure Requirements

Must possess SC PT Licensure from the Board of PT Examiners or PT Compact Commission.
