Position Overview
The Physical Therapist is responsible for developing and executing tailored treatment strategies for patients, adhering to the established standards of physical therapy. This role requires collaboration with a multidisciplinary team to ensure optimal patient outcomes. The Physical Therapist will also oversee and guide the activities of Physical Therapy Assistants and Rehabilitation Technicians in delivering quality care.
Key Responsibilities
- Conducts thorough initial evaluations and ongoing assessments to create individualized physical therapy plans
- Exhibits comprehensive knowledge of various diagnoses and conditions relevant to physical therapy
- Selects and administers appropriate PT assessments across neurological, musculoskeletal, cardiovascular, and pulmonary domains
- Accurately interprets standardized assessments tailored to the patient's needs
- Identifies potential challenges that may affect the treatment strategy and overall care plan
- Establishes clear treatment objectives based on initial evaluations
- Develops intervention plans that respect the patient's age, educational background, and cultural context
- Coordinates treatment plans with other healthcare services
- Adjusts treatment plans as necessary - Implements and oversees comprehensive treatment plans while engaging in discharge planning
- Demonstrates proficiency in a variety of physical therapy techniques, applying them creatively and flexibly
- Regularly collaborates with other healthcare professionals involved in the patient's care to ensure a cohesive treatment approach
- Maintains awareness of safety protocols for patients and staff
- Continuously evaluates patient progress, modifying goals and treatment strategies as needed
- Provides guidance on discharge and follow-up services, including referrals to community resources - Engages in the education of patients and their families
- Offers training and information regarding diagnoses, progress, and expected long-term outcomes
- Communicates educational content effectively to patients, families, and caregivers
- Supplies relevant educational materials as necessary - Adheres to departmental documentation standards
- Ensures compliance with audit requirements for documentation
- Records all aspects of patient assessment, planning, treatment, and discharge in a clear and timely manner
- Sets measurable short-term and long-term goals within designated timeframes
- Ensures treatment notes are concise and informative regarding patient progress
- Utilizes appropriate medical terminology and abbreviations - Meets productivity expectations
- Achieves departmental productivity benchmarks
- Follows established scheduling protocols to maintain productivity levels - Provides supervision and mentorship
- Supports the development of Physical Therapy Assistants and Rehabilitation Technicians
- Delegates tasks judiciously, ensuring effective team collaboration
- Offers constructive feedback on performance in a professional manner - Contributes to departmental responsibilities
- Completes tasks efficiently and thoroughly
- Assists in the upkeep of departmental equipment and supplies
- Submits productivity reports accurately and promptly
- Demonstrates respect for team members and adheres to departmental policies - Sets and achieves annual performance goals
- Collaborates with management to establish annual objectives
- Provides evidence of progress towards these goals
- Actively seeks guidance or supervision when necessary
This position does not include management responsibilities and reports to a designated supervisor or manager.
Educational Requirements
Must possess a Bachelor's or advanced degree in Physical Therapy.
Licensure Requirements
Must hold SC PT Licensure from the Board of PT Examiners or PT Compact Commission.
Work Schedule
Weekend shifts are required.
