Position Overview

Your Role


As a Civil Engineer Intern, you will engage in various projects, contributing to both smaller initiatives and larger endeavors under the mentorship of experienced civil engineers. Your role will involve assisting in the design, permitting, and oversight of water distribution systems, wastewater treatment facilities, and stormwater management solutions.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with project teams to develop comprehensive design plans and specifications for municipal water and wastewater systems.
  • Contribute to engineering studies, technical reports, and models related to infrastructure planning.
  • Participate in quality assurance reviews of engineering documents at different stages of development.
  • Assist in selecting appropriate civil systems, materials, and equipment for projects.
  • Support senior engineers in preparing project cost estimates and conducting value engineering assessments.
  • Help prepare and coordinate permit applications across various regulatory jurisdictions.
  • Engage in project meetings, documenting discussions and action items for follow-up.
  • Conduct field visits to support construction projects, ensuring compliance with design specifications.
  • Review contractor submissions and assist in construction administration tasks.
  • Be proactive in supporting project completion on time and within budget.

Qualifications:


To be successful in this role, you should possess:

  • A Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering.
  • Engineer-in-Training certification.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Technical writing proficiency.
  • Familiarity with water and wastewater utility design is advantageous.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, AutoCAD Civil 3D, and ArcGIS is beneficial.

Work Environment:


This position will primarily involve office work with occasional field exposure to varying weather conditions. A valid driver's license is required.
