We are actively seeking a Certified Pharmacy Technician to join our team at the Cheyenne Meds by Mail facility.

Job Summary

The Certified Pharmacy Technician will provide education and assistance to our nation's veteran beneficiaries in an office setting. This role has the potential for remote tele-work, but all candidates must be within a commutable distance of the office in Cheyenne, Wyoming or Dublin, Georgia. Our pharmacy technicians do not perform retail duties and work a set schedule Monday - Friday.

Responsibilities

The Certified Pharmacy Technician will be responsible for:

Providing telephonic patient education through the telephone liaison program on Meds by Mail topics such as the requesting refill process, medications available through the Meds by Mail program, and relaying judgmental questions to the pharmacist.

Resolving routine administrative questions and problems, referring difficult problems to a pharmacist.

Reading and interpreting prescriptions for completeness.

Identifying missing pertinent information and corresponding with providers for clarification.

Screening providers for eligibility by utilizing the Office of Inspector General website.

Entering correct drug, strength, dosage form, and quantity into the patient's medication profile. The prescription entry will be verified by a pharmacist.

Utilizing pharmacy information systems to identify basic therapeutic problems such as duplicate therapy with drugs in the same drug class and alerting the pharmacist to the possible need for clinical intervention.

Reporting medication close calls/errors through appropriate channels.

Maintaining training documentation for Meds by Mail functions in TMS.

Documenting all correspondence with providers and patients in patient record system.

Qualifications

To be considered for this role, you must have:

Current certification in good standing by the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or National Healthcareer Association (ExCPT)

A minimum of 1 year experience as a Certified Pharmacy Technician

Ability to accurately input prescriptions per established productivity levels.

The ability to work effectively with others, internally and externally, while remaining courteous, tactful, and understanding with others, even in potentially difficult or volatile situations.

Experience with medical records, maintaining confidentiality of medical records and sensitive data per Federal regulations, VA statues and policy, the Privacy Act of 1974 and other applicable laws.

The ability to read, understand, fluently and articulately speak, and legibly write the English language.

Competent word processing software and typing skills.

The ability to pass a federal background investigation and drug screen.

The ability to obtain VetPro certification (credentialing system required of all VHA healthcare providers)
