About the Role
The Purchasing Agent will play a critical role in the success of Rausch Coleman Development Group, Inc. by directing the activities of trade partners and material suppliers. This position requires strong communication and negotiation skills to ensure seamless collaboration with internal teams and external partners.
Key Responsibilities
- Direct trade partner relations and source supply information for the construction and sales departments.
- Responsible for accurate data integrity in the Integrated Homebuilding Management System (IHMS).
- Publish construction documents on the Internet Toolkit (ITK) for field managers and trade partners.
- Negotiate with trade partners to ensure compliance with company construction standards.
- Coordinate with sales on inventory home status and ensure timely delivery of materials.
- Manage job cost assignments, material product selection, and takeoff quantity assignments.
- Prepare job start packets and release Purchase Orders and Work Orders to begin construction.
Requirements
- At least 1 year of recent Purchasing experience working in Construction.
- Ability to understand mathematical equations and intermediate Microsoft Excel skills.
- Strong understanding of construction blueprints and floorplans, as well as basic materials and methods used by trade partners.
- Proven ability to conduct a house takeoff and assign material quantities.
- Excellent organization skills, ability to multi-task, and self-motivation.
- Knowledge of standard computer applications and ability to follow checklists, procedures, and processes.
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of production home building and experience in construction contract negotiations.
- Solid understanding of job cost details to build a home and ability to read, interpret, and resolve inconsistencies and problems in construction plans and specifications.
- Experience in a customer service position and ability to review construction job costs and make assessments to improve material quantity.
Physical Demands
- Lifting up to 20 pounds occasionally and frequently moving small objects.
- Frequently sitting for long periods of time and walking or standing occasionally.
