About the Role

The Benefits Support Specialist plays a vital role in administering the company's employee benefits, leave of absence, and retirement programs. This position requires a strong focus on customer service while ensuring compliance with government regulations and plan rules.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the administration of group benefits and retirement programs, serving as a primary contact for employees, Human Resources team members, and plan vendors.
  • Respond to benefit inquiries on plan provisions, eligibility, enrollments, status changes, and other general inquiries.
  • Process all related billings and invoices.
  • Review, approve, and process weekly benefit elections and system updates.
  • Provide direct support on special projects such as Open Enrollment, ACA compliance, 401(k) compliance testing, audits, and other periodic tasks as assigned.
  • Review and confirm that employee transfers, enrollments, and termination entries are completed accurately and timely.
  • Assist with updating and designing materials for on-boarding, general employee communications, open enrollment, off-boarding, and other communications as assigned.
  • Process qualifying event changes and death claims.
  • Ensure the company's intranet site contains current and accurate benefits-related documentation.
  • Provide general leaves administration support, including FMLA and ADA assistance.
  • Leave administrative support also includes state correspondence, internal reporting, and processing paid leave benefits.
  • Create customized leave packets with a focus on accuracy and detail.
  • Respond to leave inquiries and provide general customer service and support.
About You

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Minimum 3 years of progressive-responsible experience providing support with administering self-funded and ancillary employee benefit programs.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience processing FMLA claims, state leaves, and ADA administration.

You will bring:

  • Broad knowledge and understanding of employee benefit plans and leave of absence programs.
  • Working knowledge of related rules and regulations, as well as applicable state and federal laws.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Good analytical skills with proven ability to interpret and communicate data and plan provisions.
  • Computer proficiency and technical aptitude with Microsoft products, including Word and Excel.
  • Ability to proficiently perform tasks within the Company's internal system.
  • Ability to handle confidential employee information with discretion and good judgment.
  • Ability to work as part of a team.
