Position Overview:
As a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA), you will deliver safe and effective anesthesia care within your professional scope, ensuring adherence to clinical privileges as designated by the Medical Staff Office.
Key Responsibilities:
- Attendance: Maintain regular, punctual, and on-site presence.
- Patient Evaluation: Conduct thorough pre-operative and post-operative assessments, documenting findings accurately on the anesthesia record.
- Pre-Operative Preparation: Reassess patients immediately before surgery, reviewing lab results, verifying consents, and ensuring all necessary consultations are in place.
- Patient Identification: Confirm patient identity in the operating room with the surgical team prior to anesthesia administration.
- Anesthesia Management: Induce and sustain appropriate anesthesia levels, continuously monitoring patient status and adjusting the anesthetic plan as necessary.
- Infection Control: Implement measures to minimize infection risks.
- Data Interpretation: Analyze patient data to tailor individualized care.
- Equipment Proficiency: Ensure all anesthesia equipment is functioning correctly and report any malfunctions promptly.
- Professional Development: Act as a clinical instructor for nursing students and engage in self-evaluation to enhance skills.
- Patient Rights: Uphold the dignity and rights of patients throughout the anesthesia process.
Specialized Functions:
Perform comprehensive pre-anesthetic evaluations, administer various anesthesia types, and utilize appropriate monitoring techniques to ensure patient safety. Manage airway and pulmonary status effectively during the perioperative period and respond adeptly to emergencies.
Qualifications:
Must be a graduate of an accredited nursing program and an AANA-approved anesthesia school. Current licensure in Pennsylvania and certifications in BLS, ACLS, and PALS are required. Active CRNA status with ongoing education credits for re-certification is essential.
Skills and Abilities:
Demonstrate proficiency in emergency response, patient assessment, and knowledge of anesthetic agents and equipment. Familiarity with anesthesia machines and monitoring devices is necessary.
