Electrocardiogram Specialist Job Description



Houston Methodist is seeking a skilled Electrocardiogram Specialist to join our team at Houston Methodist Sugar Land Hospital. As an Electrocardiogram Specialist, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality patient care by performing accurate EKG rhythm interpretation and other electrocardiography functions.



Key Responsibilities:




  • Perform accurate EKG rhythm interpretation and other electrocardiography functions to support the interprofessional healthcare team in delivering high-quality patient care.
  • Maintain competency in electrocardiography (EKG), monitoring/computer skills, and pulse oximetry (SpO2) as necessary.
  • Employ effective, prompt communication throughout the hospital complex to provide direct patient care and support the healthcare team.
  • Participate in teamwork by responding positively to requests for assistance and working collaboratively with other healthcare professionals to achieve optimal department results.
  • Conduct self in a manner that is congruent with cultural diversity, equity, and inclusion principles, contributing towards improvement of department scores for employee engagement and patient satisfaction.
  • Demonstrate progressive skills through peer-to-peer accountability towards improving department scores for quality and safety.
  • Ensure all patient care equipment has had QC performed as required, is in safe working order prior to use, and documents findings accordingly, reporting any malfunctions to management and regularly practicing preventive maintenance procedures.
  • Report near misses and input errors promptly into TAPS to improve processes and identify trends, contributing to identification of corrective action and improvement activities.


Requirements:




  • High School diploma or equivalent education.
  • EKG interpretation skills.
  • Prior healthcare and/or medical terminology experience preferred.
  • Certified Cardiographic Technician (CCI) or equivalent certification within 1 year.
  • Basic Life Support (AHA) certification.
