Propane Delivery Driver Job Description

At Chesapeake Utilities Corporation, we are seeking a skilled Propane Delivery Driver to join our team. As a Propane Delivery Driver, you will be responsible for operating a bulk delivery truck in a safe and efficient manner, delivering propane gas to large industrial and commercial customers.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Operate a bulk delivery truck safely and efficiently
  • Deliver propane gas to customers in a timely and professional manner
  • Perform pre-trip and post-trip safety inspections of the vehicle and equipment
  • Document findings of inspections and ensure appropriate action is taken
  • Prepare and maintain all necessary documentation required by the Department of Transportation
  • Observe all traffic rules and practice defensive driving techniques
  • Deliver propane gas in a safe and cost-effective manner
  • Record deliveries, meter readings, and tank percentages accurately
  • Check credit status of customers prior to making deliveries
  • Collect payments from customers and disconnect gas service as directed
Requirements:
  • CDL/HM/CLASS B/ MC/ EXP= one year or equivalent
  • CDL, Class B - Hazmat endorsement required
  • Successful completion of company training programs
  • General understanding of the propane industry and all applicable codes and regulations
  • Knowledge of the properties of propane gas and all aspects of the loading and withdrawal of propane gas
  • Working knowledge of bulk plant and bulk truck equipment
  • Working knowledge of the proper procedures for the delivery of propane gas
