About the Role

The Brooklyn Museum is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Curatorial Affairs Director to join its team. As a key member of the museum's leadership, this individual will play a crucial role in shaping the institution's celebrated collections and exhibition program.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and advocate for the Curatorial team, working closely with the Deputy Director for Art and other departments to ensure the museum remains a leader in the field.
  • Develop and implement curatorial strategies, including exhibition planning, collection development, and digital engagement.
  • Collaborate with curators, librarians, and other staff to ensure the museum's collections and exhibitions are of the highest quality and meet the institution's goals.
  • Manage the museum's Curatorial and Libraries & Archives departments, overseeing personnel, budgets, and contractual matters.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures to create a supportive, productive, and inclusive work culture.
Requirements
  • Minimum of 10 years of relevant work experience as a curator with established arts organizations.
  • Minimum of 3 years of significant supervisory experience, including collaborative work with all museum departments.
  • High-level donor cultivation and grant development experience at arts organizations.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and collaboration skills, with the ability to engage with a wide range of stakeholders.
  • A proven track record of promoting diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility.
