Position Overview:

We are in search of a Metrology Specialist who is meticulous, well-organized, and possesses a robust understanding of calibration practices along with experience in handling various instruments. The primary responsibilities include defining initial calibration specifications, executing calibrations, and verifying calibration records utilizing a digital documentation system.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct calibration tasks and maintain thorough documentation.
  • Collaborate with external calibration service providers to calibrate instruments and gather data.
  • Oversee in-house calibration standards and related equipment.
  • Act as a representative for the department in interdisciplinary teams, as required.
  • Provide updates on shift activities as necessary.
  • Allocate approximately 75% of time to hands-on fieldwork.
  • Dedicate around 25% of time to administrative responsibilities.
  • Engage in continuous improvement initiatives and training.
  • Resolve issues by employing a blend of best practices and innovative solutions.
Qualifications:
  • A 2-year technical degree (AA or AS) in metrology, instrumentation, or electronics, accompanied by 1 year of relevant experience, or a comparable combination of education and experience. The level of education and experience will influence the job classification (e.g., Technician I, II, etc.).
  • Capability to read, comprehend, and adhere to SOPs, P&IDs, and operational instructions.
  • Exceptional multitasking abilities while maintaining professionalism.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.).
  • Experience in developing and applying measurement uncertainty is highly advantageous.
  • Background in calibrating instrumentation/equipment for processes, laboratories, packaging, and utility systems within a GMP setting is preferred.
  • Familiarity with Blue Mountain RAM is a plus.
Work Environment:
  • Must be capable of operating in controlled cleanroom settings, complying with specific gowning protocols, including protective attire covering the head, face, hands, feet, and body, along with necessary personal protective equipment.
  • Occasional exposure to cold, wet environments, as well as hot and humid conditions, both indoors and outdoors.
  • May work around chemicals such as paints, flooring materials, refrigerants, alcohols, acids, and buffers, which may require respiratory protection.
  • Ability to consistently work 8-hour shifts.
  • Availability for overtime, weekend work, and holidays with appropriate advance notice based on operational needs.
Physical Requirements:

The physical demands of this role include the following during job performance:
  • Ability to balance, walk, carry, kneel, stand, and crawl to access equipment.
  • Capability to climb ladders and steep stairs for equipment access.
  • Use of hands/fingers to feel for equipment connections or small components.
  • Movement of head/neck to gather data.
  • Ability to grip and manipulate materials and equipment.
  • Utilization of hearing for communication and equipment alarm verification.
  • Visual inspection during calibration and administrative tasks.
  • Occasional need for sustained stooping and bending during calibration activities.
  • Occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds.
