Key Responsibilities:- Triage: Perform an initial assessment to evaluate the patient's condition quickly, checking vital signs, assessing for obvious injuries or distress, and gathering information from the pet owner.
- Venipuncture and IVC Placement: Proficiently perform venipuncture and intravenous catheter placement.
- Medication Administration: Safely and accurately administer fluids, medications, and other treatments as prescribed by veterinarians.
- Team Collaboration: Work in conjunction with all technical staff across the hospital to ensure hospitalized patients receive optimal care, maintaining open communication with the healthcare team.
- Intensive Care Unit (ICU): Vigilantly monitor hospitalized patients, recognizing subtle changes in their clinical status and promptly reporting any concerns to the veterinary team.
- Client Education: Provide clear and concise discharge instructions to clients, ensuring they understand the care their furry family member requires after leaving the hospital.
- Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records, including patient history, treatment details, and client communication.
- Anesthesia and Sedation Monitoring: Prepare patients for procedures and monitor anesthesia to ensure patient safety.
- Diagnostic Imaging: Operate diagnostic imaging equipment and assist in capturing radiographs and other diagnostic images.
- Laboratory Procedures: Run diagnostics (i.e., CBC, Chem Panel, NOVA, iSTAT, UA), correlate results with the clinical presentation of the patient, and notify Veterinarian of results.
- Blood Transfusion Therapy: Including collection, administration, and transfusion reactions.
- Administering Oxygen: Flow-by Oxygen, Nasal Oxygen Cannula, or Oxygen Cage.
- Assist Doctors: Collaborate closely with veterinarians to assist in exams, treatments, and medical procedures for emergency cases.
- Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT) or internship trained.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work well in a fast-paced and often high-stress environment.
