Position Overview:
The Ecological Research Technician will be responsible for identifying and documenting invasive plant species while utilizing GPS technology for mapping infestations. This role involves working in pairs and executing routine tasks under close supervision or following detailed protocols. The work will be monitored during progress or upon completion. The position demands significant physical effort, including traversing uneven and slippery terrains while carrying substantial equipment. Camping on-site is required, and a company vehicle will be provided for field operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Utilize ArcGIS Field Collection applications for data gathering.
- Identify non-native invasive flora (noxious weeds) across various habitats in designated regions.
- Operate a four-wheel drive field vehicle safely.
- Adapt to a range of environmental conditions, including varying temperatures and wind.
- Perform additional tasks as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of one year of college education in Biology or a related discipline.
- At least one year of practical experience in biological field studies.
- Ability to pass a standard background check.
- Proficient in using topographic maps, compasses, GPS devices, and other field tools.
