Position Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Animal Research Technician I to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for participating in the cleaning and maintenance of animal quarters, providing routine care of research animals, and monitoring environmental conditions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Cleaning and Maintenance: Participate in the cleaning and maintenance of animal quarters, rotating animal cages and racks for cleaning following established schedules.
  • Animal Care: Provide routine care of research animals, including feeding, providing adequate food, bedding, enrichment devices, and water as required.
  • Environmental Conditions: Monitor and control environmental conditions, including temperature, ventilation, and lighting in animal rooms and related areas.
  • Recordkeeping: Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of room activities, including information on animal care and environmental conditions.
  • Inventory Control: Monitor supplies for specific animal quarters and maintain adequate levels of room supplies.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Two years of experience in an animal research facility preferred.
  • AALAS certification at the Assistant Laboratory Animal Technician (ALAT) level required.
