This position may function as both a Patient Care Tech (PCT) and Health Unit Coordinator (HUC). A Patient Care Tech functions as a clinical support partner assisting the patient care team by performing various tasks and procedures as instructed by a licensed professional. A Health Unit Coordinator, under the direction of nursing leadership, facilitates unit organization and patient care by assisting in the coordination of patient, nursing, physician and other health care provider office and clerical activities.

We specialize in Telemetry- monitoring heart rhythms. PCTs are cross-trained to the Telemetry tech role and all RNs are certified in telemetry. We care for a full spectrum of medical issues, including diabetes, infectious diseases, electrolyte imbalances, gastroenterological, respiratory, cardiac, kidney, and liver maladies. We are fast paced with never a dull moment and a fantastic learning opportunity to develop and refine your nursing and critical thinking skills. Job Specifics:

Minimum Qualifications:

Current CNA Certification. Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) for healthcare providers. If working in Utah, OR Completion of nursing assistant training program (verification of nursing assistant training program completion required and C.N.A. certification required within 120 days of hire) and BLS. OR Completion of a fundamentals of nursing class with a passing grade within the past two years (official transcript required to verify completion of class and C.N.A. certification required within 120 days of hire) and BLS. For those hired into a skilled nursing facility or long-term care center, obtaining a C.N.A. certification within 120 days is allowed only if the new hire has never been had a C.N.A. in Utah. If previously certified, must have a current and valid C.N.A. before start date. Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

CNA experience or applicable healthcare experience. Current enrollment in nursing school. Basic computer skills.

Physical Requirements:

Ongoing need for employee to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies. Frequent interactions with patient care providers, patients, and visitors that require employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately, particularly during emergency situations. Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy. This includes frequent computer use and typing for documenting patient care, accessing needed information, medication preparation, etc. Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients. Will also bend to retrieve, lift, and carry supplies and equipment. Typically includes items of varying weights, up to and including heavy items. Need to walk and assist with transporting/ambulating patients and obtaining and distributing supplies and equipment. This includes pushing/pulling gurneys and portable equipment, including heavy items. Often required to navigate crowded and busy rooms (full of equipment, power cords on the floor, etc). May be expected to stand in a stationary position for an extended period of time.
