Telemetry Monitor Technician, Cardiovascular Med Surg, NIGHTS

We are seeking a skilled Telemetry Monitor Technician to join our Cardiovascular Med Surg team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for monitoring heart rhythm patterns, detecting and reporting normal and abnormal heart rhythms, and providing exceptional patient care.
Responsibilities- Monitor heart rhythm patterns and detect normal and abnormal heart rhythms
- Record and report heart rhythm patterns and ECG interval measurements
- Notify nursing staff of abnormal heart rhythm patterns and ECG interval measurements
- Use telemetry equipment to monitor heart rhythm patterns and detect pacemaker or implantable defibrillator function
- Review patient cardiac medication profiles and notify nursing staff of potential adverse reactions
- Assemble and maintain patient telemetry charts from admission through discharge
- Respond to patient call lights and notify nursing staff
- Document time of monitors for tests, procedures, and showers
- Facilitate the process of obtaining physician orders for telemetry
- Verify official physician telemetry order for each patient
- Program and answer the pager system
- 6 months of experience identifying heart rhythm patterns
- Current RQI Healthcare Provider eCredential through the University of Utah Health RQI system
- Ability to determine when heart rhythm patterns are normal, abnormal, and/or life-threatening and notify nursing staff appropriately
- Demonstrated knowledge in medical terminology
- Demonstrated human relations and effective communication skills
- Demonstrated knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on the assigned unit
This position involves intermediate working conditions in a healthcare setting that may exert up to 50 pounds and may consistently require lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, or otherwise moving patients or objects, such as medical equipment, while providing patient care.
