Job Title: Substance Abuse Counselor

About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Substance Abuse Counselor to join our team at The GEO Group Australia Pty Ltd. As a Substance Abuse Counselor, you will play a critical role in providing evidence-based readiness and transition programming services to our clients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive assessments of clients' substance abuse history and treatment requirements
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans
  • Present individual counseling and group lectures on topics such as relapse prevention, anger management, and life skills
  • Facilitate psycho-educational and behavior modification groups
  • Document clients' progress and maintain accurate clinical records

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in a social science or related field
  • 6 months of professional experience in chemical addiction counseling and/or mental health counseling
  • Ability to work with a team of professionals and implement team strategy approaches
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
