Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Cook II to join our culinary team at Messiah University. As a key member of our kitchen operations, you will be responsible for preparing high-quality meals, maintaining a clean and safe work environment, and supporting the Executive Chef in menu development and food production.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and cook meals according to standardized recipes, ensuring quality and quantity standards are met.
  • Monitor food supplies, check inventory, and maintain accurate records of production and waste.
  • Assist in menu development, food production, and presentation, ensuring consistency and quality.
  • Train and supervise pantry staff, ensuring a smooth and efficient kitchen operation.
  • Support the Lead Cook in catering events, special functions, and daily kitchen operations.
  • Maintain a clean and sanitized work environment, adhering to health and safety standards.
  • Collaborate with the culinary team to achieve exceptional customer satisfaction and quality standards.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent; degree from an accredited culinary institute or equivalent experience.
  • 2 years of high-volume restaurant, hotel, or institutional culinary experience.
  • ServSafe certification.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs, work in a fast-paced environment, and maintain a clean appearance and work habits.
Working Conditions

This position requires the ability to work a flexible schedule, including evening and weekend hours, to meet the demands of the operation. Must be mentally and physically able to perform essential job functions, which require walking, standing, pushing, and pulling.
