Job Title: Workforce Development Specialist II

Join the Kentucky Personnel Cabinet as a Workforce Development Specialist II and play a vital role in supporting the state's workforce development initiatives.

About the Role:

This is a federally funded time-limited position that requires a strong understanding of workforce development principles and practices. As a Workforce Development Specialist II, you will work closely with veterans, employers, and other stakeholders to provide employment support services and promote job development opportunities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide employment support services to veterans, including job readiness assessments and career development planning.
  • Advocate for job development and job training opportunities, and match veterans with employment opportunities generated by business outreach.
  • Explain programs and requirements of other workforce partners and refer work-ready veterans to businesses and monitor to ensure veterans receive priority of service.
  • Assist businesses/employers with posting vacant positions and follow-up with employers.
  • Maintain veterans' statistical information and report any issues.
  • Provide training to American Job Center staff and other partner staff on the duties of the Jobs for Veterans State Grant staff.
Requirements:
  • Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree.
  • One year of experience in reviewing, monitoring, determining eligibility for, and/or administering employment service or unemployment insurance programs, or experience in education, public administration, business, human services, military, human resources or a related field.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent time management skills.
  • Ability to multitask and work under pressure.
Working Conditions:

Incumbents working in this job title primarily perform duties in an office setting.
