Position Summary:
The Certified Medical Assistant plays a crucial role in supporting patient care by performing a variety of tasks, including precise data entry for patient registration and verifying insurance details. This position requires the ability to exercise sound judgment and communicate effectively with patients, their families, healthcare professionals, insurance representatives, and third-party payers. A professional demeanor and a compassionate approach are essential.
Key Responsibilities:
• Adheres to the OneCHRISTUS Competencies: Leader of Self, Leader of Others, or Leader of Leaders.
• Aids physicians, nurse practitioners, and physician assistants in delivering exceptional medical services.
• Ensures accurate data entry for patient charges, registers patients, and updates patient records.
• Conducts insurance verification and maintains statistical records.
• Assists in scheduling patient appointments, managing phone communications, keeping providers updated on changes, and informing patients about their benefits.
• Performs additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or Equivalent is preferred.
- At least 1 year of experience in a medical office setting is preferred.
- Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) certification in the state of employment is mandatory.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) is required.
